TRSU Grassroots Scholarship Opportunities

Okemo Mountain School and Okemo Mountain Resort are pleased to announce a newly expanded scholarship opportunity for TRSU elementary school students to join a snow sports program at Okemo Mountain.  Thanks to the support of Okemo Mountain Resort and Vail’s Epic Promise, we are able to expand the number of scholarships and the eligibility criteria to include options for students 3-6 years old.  We call this scholarship the TRSU “Grassroots” Scholarship because we believe our local students should be the “grassroots” of the programs both at the Okemo Competition Center and at OMS, and we want to help make that a reality.  OMS and Okemo are excited to be able to provide support to local athletes and promote local participation in Okemo’s ski and snowboard programs.

Options:

  • 5 scholarships to join the Okemo Competition Center Weekend Program, which includes the disciplines of alpine ski racing, snowboarding, and freeski (slopestyle, halfpipe, skiercross).  Applicants must by at least 7 years old by December 15th and must be able to ski or ride at an upper intermediate level at least.

  • 3 scholarships to join the Okemo Ski and Ride School Supernova Slider Club. Applicants must be 3-6 years old as of December 15th for skiing instruction and 5-6 years old by December 15th for snowboard instruction.  No ability requirements.

Each Scholarship Includes:

  • Program fees for the program that best fits the recipient’s age and ability in their desired discipline (ski racing, snowboard, freeski) provided by Okemo Mountain Resort

  • An Epic Local Pass provided by Okemo Mountain Resort for any recipients who do not already receive one as an employee dependent

  • Up to $500 in equipment assistance funding provided by Okemo Mountain School with support from Open Door Vacation Rentals

How to Apply:

Okemo Mountain School is a 501(c)3 non-profit school approved by the State Board of Education.  OMS primarily operates a five-month winter sports academy for student-athletes in grades 5-12 and also offers a small full school year program, as well as summer and winter camps.  Though Okemo Mountain School is a separate entity from the Okemo Mountain Competition Center, which is an Okemo Mountain Resort department, we see most of our student-athletes coming to us from the Competition Center programs.  Okemo Mountain School would like more local athletes to have the opportunity to be involved in the Competition Center Programs and hopefully someday OMS!  Therefore, we are excited to partner with Okemo Mountain Resort in this scholarship opportunity.

If you have any questions about this scholarship or the programs, including which might be the best fit for your child, please contact OMS Head of School, Mariel Meringolo, at mmeringolo@okemomountainschool.org or 802-228-1513.
