John has taught at OMS since 2012. He previously taught English at the Long Trail School in Dorset, VT. He spent twenty-five years as a professional writer in the fields of journalism and communications and over five years as a tutor. John is married and lives in Dorset. He enjoys playing, watching, and expounding the tactics of soccer. He also loves reading, learning, cooking, snowboarding, spending time with his adult children, living in VT, and working alongside the dedicated and joyous student-athletes at OMS.

Ericka Priestley

Math

Ericka is passionate about teaching and winter sports. She has spent over 10 years teaching children as a ski instructor, camp coordinator and elementary school teacher. After receiving her initial degrees in Business Administration and Geography from the University of Montana, she started working at Whitefish Mountain Resort as a ski instructor. In Montana, Ericka spent her summers coordinating an outdoor-based kids camp. In 2012, she relocated to Vermont, started working at Okemo and went back to school to obtain her Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Since then, she has taught various grades and subjects, including math, at numerous elementary schools in Vermont. Recently, she has taken courses in teaching mathematics. 

Ericka lives in Springfield, Vermont. She has two young sons that she loves spending time with. She loves traveling, camping and exploring the outdoors.

Wendy Schultz

Spanish

Wendy Schultz, M. Ed., returns for a fifth year as a tutor of Spanish. Wendy lived and worked in Costa Rica full time from 2006-2013. She is a Vermont Licensed K-12 Educator and the Spanish teacher by day at Green Mountain Union Middle & High School in the nearby town of Chester, VT. As such, she includes/invites OMS students to GM’s sporting events, and social events when appropriate. This past April, ‘Profe’ (as she likes to be called by students) co-chaperoned 14 GM students on an EF educational tour of Barcelona, Zaragoza, Madrid, and Toledo, Spain. As a newly-inducted Rotarian and Advisor of GM’s Interact Club (the student arm of Rotary) she is excited to promote and participate in its established service-learning trips to Nicaragua.

Steve Severson

Math

Steve came to OMS in 2015 after working in technology companies and teaching math in Upper Valley schools from 2001-2015.  He has taught trigonometry, geometry, algebra 1+2, connected math, business math, consumer math, computer skills, applied math, integrated math; physics, economics and financial literacy.

Steve also coaches ski racing for Quechee and soccer for the Dartmouth women’s club team. He rides a bike often, is married to a psychotherapist and NH senator and has three children and five grandchildren.

Marissa Selleck

Marissa is an English and Social Studies teacher at OMS. She has tutored, substitute taught, and worked as a para educator in the public school system in VT. She also participated in the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps in 2014.

Thom Serrani

English, Social Studies, Language, Economics

Thom spent the early years after college in the fields of teaching and journalism. He spent 18 years in government service and 14 years in trade association management/lobbying.

Thom is a script writer and novelist. His interests include research, travel, history, literature, languages, gardening, cooking, and Russian language and culture. He lives in Ludlow, VT.

Horacio Travaglini

Spanish

Prof. Horacio Travaglini is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina and has lived in Manchester, Vermont since 2016. Since January 2016 Horacio has been teaching Macroeconomics and Microeconomics at Castleton University. His bi-cultural background and focus on community collaboration has led him to a number of volunteer opportunities and community leadership roles. He volunteers at chess and soccer clubs every time he can, and loves outdoor activities.
