Editing

Whether you have chosen to edit an article, or submit a new article, you will then see a page that looks like this.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 7.32.30 PM (2).png

This is your editing page.

When creating a new article you need to be sure to put a title and then put in your content in the text field below.

Images

If you want to insert a picture, click on the ÒimageÓ link at the bottom left of the content area. Be sure also, to place the cursor where you want the image to be inserted, the small arrow is an example of where you can place the cursor.

You will then be presented with a window that looks like thisÉ

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.18.25 PM (2).png

From here click on the small browse button and it will open up a window where you can search for the files on your hard drive.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.18.28 PM (2).png

This was created on a Mac, so the interface will appear a little bit different than yours. The functionality is the same. So, from here, search your hard drive for the image you would like to insert.

Once youÕve found the image you want, then click ÒopenÓ.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.18.33 PM (2).png

you should then see a window that looks like thisÉ

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.18.45 PM (2).png

This button says Òstart uploadÓ. Click on this.

Once it is uploaded then you will see thisÉ

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.19.18 PM (2).png

A blue bar at the top will announce Òupload completeÓ. You then have to choose the image you want to insert by browsing through that list that you see in that box.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.19.20 PM (2).png

The arrow is pointing at the file that I just uploaded and clicked on, and the file name must appear in that top box or it will not show up in the article.

Once the file name appears in that box, you can now click on the small button that says ÒinsertÓ.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.19.22 PM (2).png

You should be brought back to the original page with the image now inserted.

More than likely, you will want to resize the photo. This really should be done before you upload it, making it the size you want before hand. As long as it is not too large, it is still fine to place it in the article and then resize it.

And this is what you should look forÉ

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.19.36 PM (2).png

When you click on the picture, you should see small squares appear in the centers and on the corners of the photo. These are your handles for resizing. Left click, hold, and drag until the photo is the size you would like. Once it is the size you want, then release.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 8.19.39 PM (2).png

Be sure to look for anomalies that you would like to correct. I have pointed out a couple in the article that are typical. Where the arrow is, you want to insert the cursor and click the return once, to bring the text down below the image. Where the circle is, is a spelling error. Once you are satisfied with the work youÕve done, and you are finished then click save in the upper right. If you are not finished, then continue on to the next step, which is to make sure your article is in the right location.

Back to Editing/Article Placement

Once you have all the information you need in the article, you need to be sure to have it appear where you want it to. There are things called sections and categories, and you have to choose which ones you want to use for your article so it will appear on the website and its proper location. If you would like it to appear on the front page then you need to make sure to click on the radio button that says ÒyesÓ.

This is a picture of the section drop-down list.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 7.33.15 PM (2).png

This is a picture of the category drop-down list. The list will look different depending on which section you are choosing.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 7.33.19 PM (2).png

This is a picture of the radio buttons where you can choose to have it on the front page or not, or to publish or not. Below this there is an area where you can actually control when it starts publishing and when it stops publishing, but this is an advanced technique.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 7.33.31 PM (2).png

So, when you have completed putting in the title, the article, any photos you would like to use, what section you would like, what category in that section, and whether or not you wanted on the front page, you are ready to save.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 7.33.42 PM (2).png

Logout

When the article is saved, you will be redirected to the front page. If you are done, you can now log out. You will find the logout in the user menu on the left column. Click on this.

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 7.31.36 PM (2).png

You should now see a page that looks like this:

Screen shot 2010-07-27 at 7.31.50 PM (2).png

You should see a button in the middle of the page that says logout. Click on this and you will be redirected to the home page.
